NEI Study: Iowa’s Nuclear Plant Provides Major Economic Benefits to State

May 14, 2014—Iowa’s Duane Arnold nuclear power plant contributes more than $500 million to the U.S. economy—half of which directly benefits the state, a new economic benefit study released by the Nuclear Energy Institute says.
NextEra Energy’s single 615-megawatt reactor, which has operated since 1975, continues to provide high paying jobs for local communities and acts as an economic engine for Iowa, the report says.
