China and America Signed Contract on Low Concentration Transformation of Prototype Micro Reactor
China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE) and
America Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) recently signed a contract on
low concentration transformation of prototype micro reactor, marking
that the low concentration of micro reactor has entered implementation
reform stage.
The signing of this contract is also a embodiment to carry out the spirit of the nuclear security summit. It will provide practical operation experience and technical reserve for foreign low concentration transformation of micro reactor.
The low concentration transformation of the prototype micro reactor replaces the highly enriched uranium fuel with the low one and makes physical adjustment for the low one. This project will be completed in the end of 2015. At present, related work has been comprehensively launched.
This project was initialed on April 30th, 2012, according to requirements of the American, CIAE orderly started relevant work including low-enriched uranium core physical design, structure design and processing manufacturing.
