Laser-generated neutrons could one day be enlisted to help fight the War on Terror. Using the short-pulse laser at Los Alamos's TRIDENT facility, Los Alamos National Laboratory researchers generated a neutron beam with novel characteristics that interrogated a closed container to confirm the presence and quantity of nuclear material inside.
