USNEF Press Release, on the Heller, Reid. Nuclear Waste Informed Consent Act.
USNEF
also filed an FOIA request to the DOE for any and all emails, meetings,
video teleconferences, teleconferences, and letters or other related
communications between the DOE and DTRA (Defense Threat Reduction
Agency). This agency visited the Yucca Mountain facility recently and is
conducting a dialogue on alternative uses for the Yucca Mountain
facility.
We
want to learn who has initiated this dialogue. If initiated by
political sources who oppose the Yucca Mountain approved designated site
for America’s spent nuclear waste, this would suggest a conflict of
interest. Additionally, the DOE as mandated by law is currently required
to complete the Yucca Mountain Application Study. Thus, any such
dialogue supports a conflict of interest between these agencies and any
political maneuvering.
Our
governmental agencies and National Laboratories are established and
designed to serve America’s public. Interagency and/or political
management of these institutions does not SERVE or was intended by the
public. Politics is for the oversight of “our agencies” NOT manipulation
of them.
