In memoriam: Stan Skinner

It is always saddening when an organization loses one of its own. It is especially sad
and humbling when that pwerson was prominent in molding the PG&E Corp. that we
know today.

Former PG&E Chairman and CEO Stan Skinner, who led PG&E from June 1995 until his
retirement in December, 1997, passed away on May 2nd at his home in Walnut Creek, California.

Mr. Skinner's tenure coincided with the California's move into utility deregulation, a
challenging time that he referred to as "the most dramatic period of change in the history
of the energy utility industry" with the creation of the U.S. Generating Company.

Mr. Skinner began his career at PG&E as an attorney in the PG&E Law Department in 1964
and held a number of officer positions at the utility, including treasurer, executive vice president,
and chief financial officer, vice chairman of the board, and president and chief operating officer.
