Thank
you for being a member of the American Nuclear Society! Your membership
has helped ANS flourish. Our public policy advocacy voice is stronger
than ever, and our visible presence as a leader in the international
nuclear community has grown.
Our
membership includes almost 11,000 nuclear professionals working in
every facet of nuclear science and technology. We embrace 83 Local and
Student Sections worldwide.
This
solid base makes ANS a powerful advocate for the future of nuclear. We
effectively use our collective voices to shape the current and future
discussions of nuclear and we promote positive and productive public
discourse. With members like you, ANS will continue to help the world
understand the benefits that nuclear science and technology bring to
everyday lives.
As
the premier professional organization for nuclear scientists,
technicians, educators, and students, ANS is actively working for you
through many programs and services. Here are just
a few:
- Center for Nuclear Science and Technology Information
– ANS's public outreach initiative includes the Congressional Seminar
Series, teacher workshops, and youth programs. We maintain a presence in
Washington DC, and interact with policy makers and legislative staff on
a regular basis.
- Digital Nuclear Library
– ANS provides members with a repository of all digital ANS content.
Expanded search options mean that it is easier than ever to browse broad
topics or quickly find a niche subject.
- First Look
– Thanks to this digital platform implementation, research articles in
ANS journals are now available digitally months before their print
publication. You get the most topical research as soon as possible.
- ANS.org Online Member Experience
– With recent technical upgrades, you can now maintain a single log-in
and manage your account. More upgrades are scheduled in the coming year
that will further enhance your online experience.
- Scholarship Program
– We support and encourage the next generation of nuclear professionals by providing over $150,000 in scholarships each year.
Personally,
I was a relatively uninvolved member for many years before I started
taking a more active role in ANS national activities. It was only after
this experience that I truly gained an appreciation for everything that
ANS does. I take pride in and find exceptional value in ANS membership. I
encourage you to get involved and explore and take advantage of the
many benefits of your membership. I also ask you to discuss your ANS
membership with your colleagues and encourage them to join us.
More members mean we can be even more effective in our vital outreach
activities.
The world needs nuclear, nuclear needs ANS, and ANS needs you. I look forward to working for you in 2016.
