Talking Nuclear Energy in South Carolina

Nuclear Matters was excited to take the conversation about nuclear energy to South Carolina, where we recently hosted an event on the importance of these plants in collaboration with the University of South Carolina.

*Nuclear contributes $3.3 billion to South Carolina's economy each year, and prevents carbon emissions equivalent to that of 8.7 million cars - more than double the number on the road in the state!* The event began with a keynote discussion between Spencer Abraham, former U.S. Secretary of Energy and Nuclear Matters Leadership Council member, and Dr. Travis Knight, Director of the USC's Nuclear Engineering Graduate Program. Following the keynote discussion, Jeff Archie, Chief Nuclear Officer of South Carolina Electric & Gas, and Christine Johnsen, Duke Energy Senior Engineer and North American Young Generation in Nuclear regional lead, took the stage for a conversation with our Leadership Council member David Wright.
