I'm sure some of you will already be aware of this, but Dr David McKay passed away over the weekend; he was the author of the outstanding book "Sustainable Energy - Without the Hot Air" and a former senior advisor to the UK Department of Energy & Climate Change. He played a major role in putting the UK back on a pro nuclear path. For those of you who haven't run across his book, it can be found here, and is full of essential material for any discussion of low carbon energy.

Dr McKay was just 48, and died of an inoperable stomach cancer. He'd set up a "JustGiving" page to collect for a cancer hospice charity. Can I make a plea for any of you who read and enjoyed "SEWTHA" to contribute? It's not only in a good cause, but in memory of an outstanding communicator on energy issues.

Thanks
