Hello all
I
have started a new blog: it's all about nuclear advocacy. How we
advocate for nuclear, how it works, what we can learn. The blog part
of my new website, http://www.meredithangwin.com
I hope you will link to the blog, and contribute your stories to the blog.
Here's the blog:
So far, my blog has four posts:
Welcome to the Nuclear Advocacy Blog: Why we need a blog just about advocacy, not about current events etc.
Who you gonna protest? The
October rally in Chicago, led by the Environmental Progress
organization, targeted an anti-nuclear lobbying organization that claims
to be a "green" environmental group. This post describes why targeting
the "greenwashers" is necessary and important.
Show Up to Help Others Show Up
The importance of showing up. Just be there. Be there at a meeting, at a
hearing, at a rally etc. Not everyone wants to speak in public, but
everyone wants to be with friends. Be there. Be a friend. Show up to
help others show up.
Advocacy by Fact Checking. This can work. Nick
Thompson and friends caused an anti-nuclear paper to be retracted from
the academic journal where it had been published. Due to Thompson's
reviews and action, the paper was retracted. This paper can no longer
be quoted by nuclear opponents as "proof" that nuclear doesn't help with
climate-change goals.
I am eager for
contributed posts about advocacy action. You can post the same thing at
my Nuclear Advocacy blog and at your own blog. The post does not have
to be exclusive, but it has to be about advocacy.
More about this later, but do check out the blog!
Best,
Meredith
