Tomorrow, the House Appropriations Committee will vote to consider the FY 2020 Energy and Water Appropriations Bill, which provides funding for the U.S. Department of Energy's nuclear programs.
Currently,
the bill only provides funding to begin work on centralized interim
storage for spent nuclear fuel, but does not include funding to resume
the NRC licensing process for the Yucca Mountain geologic repository.
Congressman
Mike Simpson (R-ID) is expected to offer an amendment during tomorrow's
markup that would add funding to restart Yucca Mountain licensing.
A PDF of the bill report can be found HERE and a link for tomorrow's markup can be found HERE.
