Yucca Mountain Licensing Amendment Falls Short Yesterday, the House Appropriations Committee voted 25-27 to table Rep. Mike Simpson's (R-ID) amendment to add $74 million to the Energy and Water Appropriations bill for restart of the licensing process for the Yucca Mountain repository.   Behind the scenes, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), apparently weighed in with Committee Democrats, which was instrumental in the amendment's defeat.
