Savannah, the world’s first nuclear-powered merchant ship, which is docked at Canton Marine Terminal, Pier 13, in Baltimore, will be decommissioned in the coming years, federal officials say.First proposed in 1955 as part of President Eisenhower's "Atoms for Peace" initiative, the Savannah was designed to be a combination cargo and passenger ship.
