May I see your driver’s license?

How do you register over half a million refugees?

May I see your driver's license? Your passport, please. Do you have your birth certificate?

Throughout our lives, we are asked to provide these basic forms of identity to travel, receive health care and access many other services. We take for granted our ability to prove who we are — but without identification, Rohingya refugees have been denied their rights.

Thanks to caring Americans like you, more than 500,000 Rohingya — who've been persecuted for generations — have identity cards, most for the first time in their lives.

Having an identity is a basic human right ... it’s also an incredible step into a more dignified life.
—UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi
I am deeply grateful to every USA for UNCHR donor who gives refugees the aid and support they need to live safer, more hopeful — and dignified — lives.

Warmly,

Anne-Marie Grey
Executive Director and CEO
USA for UNHCR

P.S. With your past generosity, you've done more than provide refugees with identification, food, shelter, and other humanitarian aid. You've demonstrated your belief in the dignity of every human life. Please renew your support with a gift today.
