Gov. DeWine stands by nuclear bailout, lawyer recalls effort to thwart ballot initiative | WKRC: COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKRC) - As Republican and Democratic state legislators work on bills to repeal the nuclear company bailout signed into law last year, Gov. Mike DeWine said Wednesday he does not support repealing it. DeWine signed House Bill 6 into law in 2019. It provides a $1. 3 billion ratepayer-funded bailout of Ohio's two nuclear power plants owned by FirstEnergy Solutions, which is now Energy Harbor. "We had a couple of big factors in my support for the bill. One is the jobs," DeWine said.
