Senate EPW Committee Approves the American Nuclear Infrastructure Act
Last month, U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) and Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Mike Crapo (R-ID), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced bipartisan legislation to revitalize our country's nuclear infrastructure.
During a business meeting today the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) reported S.4897, the American Nuclear Infrastructure Act of 2020 favorably out of committee. Typically, the next step for S.4897 would
be Senate floor consideration, where every Senator has an opportunity
to review and debate the legislation. Sometimes, pieces of legislation
can also be included in related larger bills as amendments in order to
help speed up the legislative process.
S.4897, the American Nuclear Infrastructure Act of 2020, will promote U.S.
international leadership, preserve America's nuclear fuel supply chain,
prevent more carbon emissions from entering our atmosphere, and protect
our economic, energy, and national security.
