Japan PM pledges full responsibility on Ohi restart decision
Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda promised to take full responsibility in the decision whether to restart Kansai Electric Power's Ohi nuclear plant. "We're aware that restarting [nuclear power plants] is necessary and important for the development of the Japanese economy and society," Noda said. "I'd like to fulfill my responsibility by taking all possible measures to ensure their safety." The Mainichi (Japan)/Kyodo News

  • Most Japanese oppose early restart of Ohi plant, poll finds: Seventy-one percent of Japanese are against the early restart of Kansai Electric Power's Ohi nuclear plant, compared with 23% who support the initiative, according a survey by The Mainichi newspaper. The poll comes as the government nears a decision on whether to restart the units.
