NRC cites N.H. plant for issues during emergency-preparedness drill
The
Nuclear Regulatory Commission cited staff at NextEra Energy's Seabrook
nuclear plant in New Hampshire for failing to detect a simulated
radiological release and not notifying state emergency-planning
authorities during an emergency-preparedness test in April. The finding
affected the "objective to ensure that the licensee is capable of
implementing adequate measures to protect the health and safety of the
public in the event of a radiological emergency," the agency's report
said. The issues are an indication of failure on the part of the workers
at the facility, said Alan Griffith, a company spokesman. SeacoastOnline (Portsmouth, N.H.)
