India at table with GE, Westinghouse, Areva for reactor projects
The Nuclear Power Corp. of India is in talks with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy for six reactors rated at 1,350 megawatts each. Officials said the company will also begin talks with Westinghouse Electric for six 1,154-megawatt reactors. Meanwhile, the state-run Indian company and French group Areva are expected to sign an early-works agreement within a month for two reactors of 1,650 megawatts each for a project in Maharashtra, India, an NPCIL official said.
