US weighs nuclear subsidies amid budget crunch

WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - The U.S. government's
budget crunch combined with safety concerns in the wake of
Japan's nuclear crisis raise important questions about whether
the timing is right to subsidize new reactor designs, a top
Senate lawmaker said on Thursday.
