Dear President Obama,
After watching your speech to Congress last evening and your presentation of the American Jobs Act, I can honestly say that you have completely sold out to the special interests and been consumed by the political machine. Your words were empty and I assure you, they fell on deaf ears.
The American people know that all you and Congress care about is getting reelected. Well, Mr. President, you used social media to get elected the first time and you promised a new generation of voter that you would bring change. You did not! The instant gratification generation that helped elect you and your Congressional partners will be looking to place their votes in those politicians that they believe will make the change that is needed and that you promised.
The only jobs that you supported in last evenings speech were union jobs, not every day middle class American jobs. Infrastructure jobs building bridges and tunnels and roads to nowhere... How does that put "Joe the Plumber" back to work?
Refurbishing schools is also union work, it won't put a local electrical contractor to work.
Your abandonment of support of "Green Jobs" was the most crushing blow in your plan to get America back to work. It seems that "Clean Coal", who had a great commercial before and after your speech and the continually subsidized oil industry have finally spent enough lobbying dollars to get you to abandon Energy Security through renewable energy.
The irony is that last evening while you were giving your speech to the nation, a single worker from a utility company happened to be able to take down the entire power grid in California, Arizona and Nevada! Now if that isn't a sign that our antiquated power grid is where all new infrastructure jobs should be created, I don't know how much more of a sign you could get.
Yes, these Smart Grid infrastructure jobs will initially be union jobs as well but the ancillary jobs creation from the local contractors weatherizing and energy efficiency retrofitting will put the average "Joe" contractor back to work.
And if that average "Joe" contractor goes to work, he employs people in his town and they go to lunch in that town, get gas in that town and buy computers and blue jeans and work boots in that town and behold, the American economy starts to breathe again. Town by town, City by city. And the American Green Technology manufacturing of those energy efficient products will put people to work. Investors will finally invest in Green technology companies and these companies won't need subsidies from the Federal government.
You said you want to export Fords and Chevys to other countries... Really, have you seen how much a gallon of gas is in Brazil,China??? Did you know that the import fees for a car to Brazil are over 80% of value?
Mr. President, you are not to blame for our current situation. The problem is that your intentions were just but the machine has consumed you. We have 535 Congressional leaders that all think they are the President of the united States. Our government has become Democrats against Republicans. That is why the Tea Party came creeping in and now every politician in Washington is trying to jump on their band wagon.
I tell you Mr. President the same thing I said to Mr. Romney the other day...
This election will come down to jobs and energy security.
Infrastructure jobs building bridges, tunnels and roads to nowhere. It just won't work. We need to digitize the US Power Grid. We need to treat energy as a National Security issue. We need to build renewable energy projects all across America. We need to make every home, business and building in our Nation as energy efficient and weatherized as possible. That will save Americans and American businesses money every day. We need to take back the subsidies for big oil, nuclear and ethanol and get our troops home and we will save enough money in one year to pay off our debt.
We need to get big American companies to pay their fair share. Restructure the tax basis so everyone pays their fare share and we need to cut out the pork from every single bill that Congress votes on..
My offer still stands..my office is right across the street from yours. Come over and let's have a cup of coffee and make a real plan to get Americans back to work!
Sincerely,
Ralph Avallone
