Utilities Choosing Westinghouse SHIELD® Reactor Coolant Pump Passive Thermal Shutdown Seal to Enhance Plant Safety

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 23, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Utilities throughout the United States are choosing Westinghouse Electric Company's SHIELD® reactor coolant pump (RCP) passive thermal shutdown seal to further enhance the safety of their nuclear plants. To date, the Westinghouse SHIELD shutdown seal has been installed in one dual-unit nuclear plant, and Westinghouse has received orders from five more for a total of 37 reactor coolant pump (RCP) installations.
