- Report: Prolonging the lives of France's reactors is a prudent option
Extending the lives of France's nuclear plants is the most cost-effective long-term power-generation option, according to a draft report from the French government. Electricite de France expects to spend $1.13 billion to prolong the life of a reactor, compared with the $6.6 billion price tag of installing Areva's next-generation reactor, the report stated.
