Duke Energy is still studying acquiring a portion of Santee Cooper's shares in the new reactors being developed at the V.C. Summer nuclear plant in South Carolina, said Jim Rogers, Duke Energy's chairman, president and CEO. "We believe that regional, nuclear generation makes a lot of sense, as it smooths out the customer-rate impact and adds less immediate stress to the balance sheet, proving greater flexibility for our projects," Rogers said.
