Japan government criticized for unclear stance on reactor restarts
Fukui
Gov. Issei Nishikawa would make a decision about whether to clear the
restart of Kansai Electric Power's Ohi nuclear plant even without
approval from officials in Japan's Kansai region. "We're not necessarily
waiting for approval from the Kansai region. This issue can be resolved
if the central government clearly shows its stance" on the reactor
restarts, Nishikawa said. For weeks, Japan's central government has been
seeking to gain the public's support for the restarts to avert summer
power supply interruptions. The Mainichi (Japan)/Kyodo News
