Elderly account for 90 percent of disaster-related deaths
About 90 percent of 1,263 "disaster-related
deaths" in Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures in the aftermath of
the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami and
subsequent Fukushima nuclear crisis were elderly people aged 70 and
older, the Reconstruction Agency said Aug. 21 in a final report.
