- NRC finds flaws in steel plates for Plant Vogtle reactors
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has found flaws in at least 211 steel plates that would be used in the new reactors of Southern Nuclear's Plant Vogtle in Georgia. "Examples of the types of deviations identified include unacceptable welds and weld repairs," NRC inspectors said. NRC and Shaw Group officials identified the defects before any plates had been installed at the site. The Augusta Chronicle (Ga.)
