Here are the topic summaries for today's Fukushima commentary and updates. Please click the link for the full reports.

Commentary – Japan’s Press fails to make nuclear energy the top election issue - After Prime Minister Noda “dissolved” the Diet’s lower house to make way for the national election on December 16, the Press has done its best to make it seem that Japan’s nuclear energy policy issue is the one of greatest importance. However, two comprehensive polls show that the Press seems to have failed in their mission to put the nuclear issue at the head of the political pack. Nuclear energy is not the most important issue in in the public mind, ranking behind the state of the economy, potential tax increases, and the military tensions between Japan and China.
Other updates - The politicians not in the LDP expressed shock at the Kyodo and Yomiuri poll results. One party incumbent from the Chubu region said, “It is all Noda’s fault.”... A major earthquake struck the Tohoku region of Northeastern Japan today, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale. The earthquake had no impact on any of the ten nuclear plants located at F. Daiichi and F. Daiini, and radiation levels at F. Daiichi did not change.
