Dome Placed on EDF's New Flamanville EPR Reactor Building (With Video)
A reactor in Flamanville, France, entered a new stage of
its construction Monday as a crane lowered an enormous dome onto its
containment building.
The crane is one of the most powerful in the world and stands at twice the height of the Statue of Liberty. According to plant owner EDF, positioning the 141-foot-diameter, 287-ton component took 30 Bouygues Construction workers and four months of planning. The dome will be welded to the building before it is covered in 7,716 tons of concrete. View Video >>>>
