Subsequent to the release of the 2012 edition of the CO2 emissions from fuel combustion publication an error was detected in the calculation used to produce the indicator on CO2 emissions per kWh from electricity generation. This meant that for certain countries/regions an incorrect CO2 emission amount was used in the calculation. These indicators were recalculated in March 2013 and a corrigendum was released.
IEA helps to inform the debate on climate change leading up to Doha
How much CO₂are countries emitting? Where is it coming from?

In the lead-up to the UN climate negotiations in Doha, the latest information on the level and growth of CO₂emissions, their source and geographic distribution will be essential to lay the foundation for a global agreement. To provide input to and support for the UN process the IEA is making available for free download the "Highlights" version of CO₂Emissions from Fuel Combustion.

This annual publication contains:

- estimates of CO₂ emissions by country from 1971 to 2010
- selected indicators such as CO₂/GDP, CO₂/capita, CO₂/TPES and CO₂/kWh
- CO₂ emissions from international marine and aviation bunkers, and other relevant information
These estimates have been calculated using the IEA energy databases and the default methods and emission factors from the Revised 1996 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.
