A new report issued by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is
"good news, bad news" for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The
fourth annual report indicates that the NRC's performance and oversight
of nuclear power plant safety has improved, as it demonstrated in 2013
that it can be an effective watchdog. However, UCS also points out
inconsistent enforcement and a number of significant safety lapses.
