China Reminds Goal of Nuclear Power Installed Capacity in 2020

The State Council General Office recently issued Energy Development Strategy Action Plan for 2014 to 2020, in which it cleared the goal to realize installed nuclear capacity to reach 58 million Kw in 2020 and building capacity to over 30 million Kw. It is consistent with the goal of Nuclear Power Medium and Long-term development plan for 2011 to 2020.

Although nearly half of the nuclear power plants are located in the inland, there is still a lot of controversy about inland nuclear power in China. “Safety is the life of the nuclear power” said an official form National Energy Department.

It is noteworthy that the action plan also required pushing forward development of AP1000, CAP1400 and HTGR reactors on the basis of introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation.
