President Trump
spoke about Yucca Mountain funding
in an interview this Saturday, implying he is opposed to the
project: "I think you should do things where people want them to happen,
so I would be very inclined to be against it...We will be looking at it
very seriously over the next few weeks, and I agree with the people of
Nevada."
The Department of Energy has
included $120 million for Yucca Mountain funding in both of its budgets
under the Trump administration. White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters
did not confirm if the administration had changed its position, only
saying that the issue will be looked at "very seriously" as they plan a
2020 budget in the coming months.
