How The Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Meltdown Formed World's Most Dangerous Lava Flow: In April 1986, Reactor 4 of the Wladimir Iljitsch Lenin Atomic Power Station near the city of Chernobyl experiences a catastrophic core meltdown. The radioactive lava that formed was named Corium and it's still there.
