JAIF Releases Document Detailing Unit Status

14 Mar (NucNet): The Japan Atomic Industrial Forum (JAIF) has released a
document detailing the status of all units at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear
plant and the Fukushima-Daini nuclear plant as of 12:30 today local Japan
time.

The document shows that containment vessel integrity has not been affected
at any of the units. It also shows fuel integrity has been damaged at
Fukushima-Daiichi units 1 and 3.

Earlier today Japan’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) said a
hydrogen explosion that occurred at unit 3 at the Fukushima-Daiichi plant
did not damage the inner or primary containment vessel (PCV).

The reactor building exploded, but the PCV remains intact. The control room
of unit 3 remains operational, NISA said.
