Expert emphasizes need for nuclear energy in Japan
Japan
shouldn't opt for zero nuclear energy generation nearly a year after
the Fukushima Daiichi incident, said Shojiro Matsuura, chairman of the
country's Nuclear Safety Research Association. Japan cannot boost its
dependence on fossil fuels, and renewable sources such as wind and solar
are more expensive compared with nuclear power, Matsuura said.
"Japanese people should choose some fraction of nuclear energy for the
future," he added. Platts
