Study: Most U.K. nuclear sites are at risk for floods
The
majority of nuclear sites in the U.K. are susceptible to coastal
erosion and flooding, according to an unpublished study by the U.K.'s
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. "Sea level rise,
especially in the southeast of England, will mean some of these sites
will be under water within 100 years," said David Crichton, a University
College London professor. But EDF Energy said all of its U.K. nuclear
sites have sufficient flood and storm protections. The Guardian (London)
