Steam Generator Failures At San Onofre
The Need For A Thorough Root Cause Analysis Requires No Early Restart
Fairewinds believes that San Onofre made numerous design changes to its steam generator causing rapid degradation and unanticipated shutdown. Fairewinds also believes that the San Onofre steam generator modifications were not a “like-for-like” replacement. The NRC confirmatory action letter issued later the same day has substantiated Fairewinds analysis.
