Fertel lauds Senate panel for passing key nuclear energy provisions
The
Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development was
praised by Nuclear Energy Institute President and CEO Marvin Fertel for
its efforts to address the country's used nuclear fuel storage problems.
The subcommittee cleared a bill that embraces the federal blue-ribbon
commission's recommendation for the consolidated storage of used fuel
from reactors. "NEI urges others in Congress to consider broader
legislation recommended by the blue-ribbon commission, including our
continued need for geologic disposal. In that regard, NEI continues to
support licensing work on the Yucca Mountain repository," Fertel said. SNL Interactive (free content)
