Video Highlights Third Quarter Progress On Vogtle Units 3 And 4
Construction progress on Units 3 and 4 at the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant in Waynesboro, Ga, is highlighted in Georgia Power's third quarter timeline video.
Despite the "intense Georgia heat," says narrator Joe Washington, the company reached significant milestones in the third quarter, including the largest lift to date at the construction site. That was the placement of the CAO1 modular building that weighed in at 2.28 million pounds. It stands 70 feet tall and it was hoisted and placed in the nuclear island with the work of the massive on-site cranes.
When done, says Washington, the entire facility will encompass 3,169 acres -- four times the size of New York City's Central Park.http://nuclearstreet.com/nuclear_power_industry_news/b/nuclear_power_news/archive/2015/10/07/clip-highlights-third-quarter-progress-on-vogtle-units-3-and-4-100703.aspx#.VhVFMaSKI-9
