Your Chance to Ask ExxonMobil and Chevron a Question
Dear Michele,
Next week, oil and gas giants ExxonMobil and Chevron will hold their annual shareholder meetings. The added media and shareholder attention around these meetings offers a critical opportunity to demand they address their companies' futures under the realities of climate change.
We need your expert voice: If you had your chance at the microphone at one of these annual general meetings (AGMs), what would you ask ExxonMobil or Chevron? Share your questions with us on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtags #ExxonAGM or #ChevronAGM, and we'll highlight a few of our favorites on the day of their big meetings.
These AGMs are the one time each year that companies are required to meet with investors and take their questions face-to-face. Company executives will hear questions from shareholders on everything from their decades of sidelining climate science to how they plan to deal with lawsuits from communities suing them over climate-related damages.
We'll be attending both the ExxonMobil and Chevron meetings with local scientists to ask what the companies are doing to ensure that global temperature increase is kept well below 2 degrees Celsius, the limit experts agree we need to achieve to avoid the worst effects of global warming.
