Solyndra-type corporate welfare costs $100 billion
Subsidies to businesses in the federal budget in fiscal 2012 cost taxpayers almost $100 billion, according to a new report from the Cato Institute. The report contains examples of what it calls corporate welfare plans gone awry — with the most familiar being that of the bankrupt solar energy company Solyndra. Read & Comment
