Duke says NRC can address legal issues in a "timely manner"
Duke
Energy isn't concerned that its proposal to construct new reactors in
Florida could face delays because of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's
suspension of licensing decisions while it addresses concerns about its
waste confidence rule. Duke believes the agency will work "in a timely
manner" to resolve the issues, said Rita Sipe, a spokeswoman for the
utility. "We are encouraged that the NRC will continue to move forward
with all licensing reviews and proceedings while it considers options
for resolving the waste confidence issues raised by the court's remand,"
she said. Platts
