Mars rover is powered by INL-developed nuclear battery
A
team of Idaho National Laboratory researchers helped develop the $100
million nuclear battery that is powering NASA's Curiosity rover on Mars.
"People call it a battery, but it's actually a power system because it
doesn't need to be recharged," said Stephen Johnson, division director
of Space Nuclear Systems and Technology at INL. "It will run for
decades." The Idaho Statesman (Boise)
