Cracking signs on overseas control rod blades get scrutiny
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy detected signs of cracks in some control-rod blades that were manufactured in 1997. The company has "not identified any safety issues or concerns to date; therefore, GEH does not recommend any additional plant action at this time," said spokesman Michael Tetuan. Facilities equipped with the control rods were advised to proceed with standard monitoring procedures, he added.
