NEI opposes plan to charge industry for cleanup
Nuclear
industry officials continue to dispute the Department of Energy's
claims that companies should pay for cleaning up gaseous-diffusion
plants in Oak Ridge, Tenn., Paducah, Ky., and Portsmouth, Ohio. The
Nuclear Energy Institute said that the Obama administration is
attempting to charge the industry a second time for the cleanup. "The
nuclear energy industry will continue to vigorously oppose this
outrageous attempt to have our companies make up the government's
failure to fulfill its legal obligation to this long-standing
environmental program," said Alex Flint, senior vice president of
government affairs at NEI. EENews.net (subscription required)
