Court is urged to suspend collection of Nuclear Waste Fund fees
The
U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit should
suspend the Department of Energy's collection of a radioactive-waste
fee, as there is no program in place for the construction of a used
nuclear fuel repository, said Jay Silberg, a lawyer representing the
Nuclear Energy Institute, the National Association of Regulatory Utility
Commissioners and several energy companies. "For now, we shouldn't have
to continue to pay $750 million a year," he said. EENews.net (subscription required)
