FREDERICK, MD, Aug 01, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Bechtel has
signed an agreement to provide project management consulting services to
the China Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation (CNPEC), a subsidiary
of the China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group (CGNPG).
Bechtel will provide CNPEC with training and education to help the
organization enhance its ability to manage nuclear projects. Bechtel and
CGNPG have previously worked together on the Daya Bay project, one of
the first commercial nuclear plants built in China using foreign
technology (French PWR) and completed in 1994.
"CNPEC has selected us to help the company improve processes and
procedures to ensure its nuclear projects stay on time and on budget,"
said Greg Ashley, president of Bechtel's nuclear power business line.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to continue working with CNPEC
as it expands its nuclear capabilities."
The agreement represents the second time in recent months that Bechtel
has been selected to provide consulting services in the nuclear industry
in China. In April, Bechtel announced it would provide nuclear
consulting services to the China Nuclear Power Engineering Company, a
subsidiary of the China National Nuclear Corporation.
