Rell to feds: Stop plan dismantling Yucca Mountain By Patricia Daddona

Gov. Rell: NRC should rule first on Yucca Mountain
Connecticut Gov. Jodi Rell has requested that the Department of Energy stop plans to abandon the Yucca Mountain nuclear-waste-repository project in Nevada until federal regulators issue a key decision on the project's proposed termination. Ending the Yucca Mountain project "is a disservice to Connecticut ratepayers, who continue to be burdened by DOE's delay in proceeding with its license application," Rell said. 1. A twist that I haven't seen addressed anywhere: Obama eliminated funding for Yucca in his budget for FY 2011 but Congress has not passed any of the 12 budget bills for FY 2011, nor do they plan to. Does that not mean that all federal agencies continue operating at current budget levels in the interim?
