Rosatom seeks shares in U.K. nuclear energy venture
Russia's
Rosatom is targeting shares in the Horizon Nuclear Power joint venture.
Horizon sought to construct new reactors in the U.K., but its backers,
E.ON and RWE, withdrew due to financial constraints. "The British market
is potentially attractive for Rosatom. Rosatom can give all guarantees
that the construction of a [nuclear power plant] in the U.K. will meet
absolutely all international safety requirements and International
Atomic Energy Agency standards," said company spokesman Sergey Novikov. The Telegraph (London)
