Russia
and Belarus have signed the construction contract for two new Russian
reactors in Belarus at an estimated total cost of $10 billion.
The
twin 1200-MW, AES 2006 Russian reactors are to be constructed at
Ostrovets in the Grodno region of the Republic of Belarus. The AES 2006
is also known as NPP 2006 and, in Europe, the Modernized International
Reactor, or MIR 1200.
